The famous lyrics, Why Does it Always Rain on Me?, couldn’t have been more fitting for Krucial’s first charity event of 2021. Despite it being a very ‘dreich day’, the Krucial team came out in force – pounding the pavements to raise awareness and funds for Epilepsy Scotland on international Purple Day.
The team set themselves, an ambitious target of collectively covering 50km in 50 minutes. From the joggers to the power walkers, to those enjoying a leisurely pace with family and pets – the team managed to exceed their 50km target, covering 73km with some interesting selfies thrown in along the way!

Our charity efforts didn’t stop there. Later on, the team along with family and friends ‘got their purple on’ for a purple themed virtual charity quiz. Cue lots of laughter, random questions and some even more random answers! It was a fantastic end to the day – raising a total of £1100 for Epilepsy Scotland.
Kerry Reich, Community and Events Fundraiser, Epilepsy Scotland said: “We are delighted to have the support from the amazing team at Krucial for this year’s Purple Day! The team did an incredible job of raising funds for the charity – and we really appreciate them braving the elements to surpass their initial fundraising target in aid of Epilepsy Scotland.”
In Scotland 55,000 people are affected by epilepsy. Epilepsy Scotland is committed to make sure the needs of people with epilepsy are met, campaigning for improved healthcare, better information provision and an end to stigma. Held annually on 26th March, Purple Day is an international grassroots effort which aims to get people talking about epilepsy and raise awareness of the condition worldwide.
Allan Cannon, CEO, Krucial added: “I am extremely proud of the Krucial team. Not only did they surpass both their fundraising and initial 50km target – they did so with endless enthusiasm and motivation to make a real difference. Epilepsy Scotland provides vital support services to individuals and families affected by epilepsy and we are delighted to raise funds and awareness to support them.”
