Krucial (formerly R3-IoT) co-founder and CEO, Allan Cannon is a panellist at this year’s World Ocean Summit conference.

Krucial co-founder and CEO Allan Cannon has been confirmed as a speaker at this year’s Economist Impact’s Annual World Ocean Summit.

The global event, now in its 9th year, will see some of the world’s most influential political and business leaders come together to address cross-industry topics from ocean finance to new technologies, and assess how to achieve global 2030 targets to clean up the world’s oceans. More than 100 speakers from more than 100 countries will address around 5000 delegates between 1 and 4 March.

Allan will be speaking at the ‘Transforming aquaculture with new technologies’ session between 13:40 and 14:20 on Wednesday 2 March, alongside Vlada Demydova, Regional Sales Director, EMEA at AquaChile, Jennifer Kemmerly, Vice-President of Global Ocean Initiatives at Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Bernardo Carvalho, Chief Executive and Founder at Oceano Fresco. The discussion will consider the importance of digitising operations to optimise fish-farming processes and is part of a wider aquaculture programme during the Summit designed to look at how the industry can grow sustainably.

Allan Cannon, co-founder and CEO of Krucial said:

“To address such a prestigious and influential global event is an exciting prospect, and I’m looking forward to discussing the opportunities digitisation holds for our oceans. Quality, continuous data holds the key to improving business operations and sustainability in our ocean economy. In aquaculture particularly, digitisation is crucial to better understanding the condition of our waters and how to protect them.

“Through a combination of satellite connectivity, Internet of Things technology and cloud infrastructure, we can begin to unlock the secrets of our oceans and better understand what actions need to be taken to sustain them while driving better decision making.”

Other workstreams across the four-day event include energy, plastics, fishing and tourism, with speakers ranging from Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy secretary-general, UN and chair, UN Sustainable Development Group and HSH Albert II, Sovereign Prince of Monaco.

The entire event will be available to attend for free, and you can register at 9th annual World Ocean Summit Virtual Week (economist.com).
